Dr. Timothy M. Hendrix is an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. A member of AMTE since 2002, Tim was the first Project NExT Fellow supported by AMTE. Since that time, Tim has served two terms as Chair of the Membership Committee, and then from 2009 - 2013 as AMTE's first Website Director. Involved in teaching mathematics and working with both pre-service and in-service mathematics teachers, he has a long history of providing Professional Development for teachers in North Carolina, Illinois and throughout the southeast and midwest.
Tim's research interests revolve around curriculum development, the effective use of technology for the teaching and learning of mathematics, and advanced mathematical thinking. Mathematically, his work has been in the areas of geometry and topology with connections to algebra. Regionally, he serves on the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM) as Parliamentarian, having previously served as the Statewide Secretary, Eastern Regional Vice-President for Higher Education, and the Statewide Vice-President for Higher Education. Locally, at Meredith College, he has served as the chair of two different campus committees, on Faculty Council, and as Chair of the Faculty in 2010-2011. In addition, he has been recognized by the Marion Eberly Distinguished Faculty Development Award in 2007 and the Presidential Award for Meritorious Service in 2010. From 2008 - 2013, as part of the college's reaccreditation plan, he directed a campus-wide initiative, PRISM, to infuse critical thinking into the fabric of the college's curriculum and co-curriculum.
