Blueprint Schools Network (Blueprint) is a nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts.  Our work with schools around the country has shown that positive change is possible when five core strategies for school improvement are implemented together as a comprehensive package.  These strategies include:

  1. Ensuring every student has an excellent teacher and a school leader committed to their success;
  2. Setting clear, consistent standards for academic achievement and establishing a school-wide focus on preparing all students for college;
  3. Increasing instructional time;
  4. Providing daily, small group tutoring to students using highly qualified and well-trained instructors; and
  5. Collecting assessment data frequently to monitor each student’s academic progress and tailoring instruction to meet the needs of all learners.

We are currently working with public schools districts in Denver, CO, Boston, MA, Salem, MA and Saint Louis, MO to plan and implement rigorous turnaround initiatives (62 schools, serving over 11,000 students).

National Fellows Program Director Job Description:

The National Fellows Program Director position requires the ability to plan, manage, and organize many of fundamental functions of The Blueprint Fellows Program, a comprehensive tutoring program in our schools.  Some travel to our partner districts required. Core roles and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Leads the implementation and direction of the Blueprint Fellows Program (including leading the launch of Fellows Programs in new schools and districts and Summer Training);
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders related to this program to optimize the programs’ objectives and students’ progress;
  • Establishes effective methods of monitoring program goals, evaluates progress towards goals, reports appropriate metrics and make recommendations accordingly;
  • Oversees and develops site visit process for monitoring programs, trains, develops, and supervises BP consultants around the tutoring site visit process.
  • Provides supervision and coaching to National Fellows Program Coordinator, Regional Fellows Program Director (St. Louis) and Regional Fellows Program Coordinator (Denver, CO – Denver Summit Schools Network);
  • Partners with the Director of Human Capital on Fellow recruiting and outreach;
  • Promotes and communicates all aspects of assigned program development and results through website, promotional materials and communications including press releases, newsletter and community outreach efforts;
  • Develop and build relationships with colleges, universities, and partner organizations to support the Fellows program and alumni with career pathway options;   
  • Oversees the creation of professional development of Regional Fellows Directors and National and Regional Fellows Program Coordinators as well as Fellows and Fellow Coordinators;
  • Management and output of interim assessment data to track student, Fellow, and school progress towards goals;
  • Stays current on best practices and research;
  • Identifies and contributes to development and fundraising opportunities for Fellows program; 
  • Creates supporting materials, manuals, guides for implementation and operations;
  • In partnership with the National Fellows Program Coordinator, Regional Fellows Program Director and Regional Fellows Program Coordinators, develop and build Fellows alumni network initiatives including but not limited to establishing and maintaining an alumni database and outreach;
  • Develops performance rubrics and evaluations for fellows and coordinators;
  • Identifies improvement opportunities to leverage employee and student feedback to further develop the program;
  • Works with the Blueprint leadership team to set strategic direction for program; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
A successful candidate must have a track record of organization and experience working in a professional office environment; start-up experience is preferred.  He/she should possess a background and passion for serving at-risk students or working in education reform.  Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; background in education, mathematics or similar fields preferred;
  • Minimum of 2+ years in project management of a multi-site instructional intervention;
  • Sound instructional math content knowledge;
  • Experience managing, coaching and mentoring instructors or teachers in mathematics;
  • Curriculum development experience preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and build relationships with key stakeholders, including district and national leaders in education and policy;
  • Proven experience supervising and coaching multiple direct reports;
  • Strong writing skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task;
  • The ability to collect, manipulate, and interpret data;
  • Creative and entrepreneurial mindset;
  • Fluency in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is essential; and
  • Knowledge of SAS, STATA, or SPSS is preferred.
