The University of California, Merced is a dynamic new university campus in Merced, California, which opened in September 2005 as the tenth campus of the University of California and the first American research university in the 21st century.

The CalTeach program (http://calteach.ucmerced.edu) housed at the School of Natural Sciences at the University of California, Merced prepares undergraduate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) majors for careers in K-12 education. The program offers undergraduate curriculum in STEM education and opportunities for students to complete a teaching credential either concurrently with a B.S. in STEM or post-graduation.

The program is seeking:

  •       1-2 qualified and enthusiastic candidates for the position of part-time or full-time lecturer to teach the upper division Natural Sciences Education courses.

Courses taught:

  •       Classroom Management and Interactions
  •       Diversity in Education

  •       Project-based Instruction

  •       Apprentice Teaching

This is a limited-term appointment, which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  •       Advanced degree in STEM, education or related fields is required. 

  •       Candidates with experience teaching STEM at the K-12 and the college/university level are preferred.
