The School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Elementary or Secondary Education. The successful candidate will support pre-service and in-service teachers who are enrolled in Northwestern’s high quality undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs. We seek a candidate who will collaborate with faculty in the Master of Science in Education program and in the graduate Learning Sciences program to offer innovative, research-based teacher education practices.

Applicants should have a doctorate in education, learning sciences or a related field. In addition, candidates should have experience as a classroom teacher. Experience as a teacher educator and teaching at the university level is also required. Candidates may specialize in elementary education or in one of the secondary subject areas. Candidates are expected to have an ongoing program of research and a record of publications and presentations.

This position is non-tenure track and is renewable after two years. Responsibilities include teaching methods and other practice-based classes, supervising student teachers, developing relationships with local schools, and providing leadership for program initiatives.
