Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education

 

The College of Education at the University of Mary Washington invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education starting August 16, 2017.  This is a nine-month position requiring the successful candidate to excel in instruction, engage in scholarship, and participate in service. 

 

The candidate will be expected to (a) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics education, (b) supervise student interns, and (c) mentor student research projects. Additionally the candidate will be expected to advise students, engage in scholarly activity and provide service to the college, university, community, and profession.

 

The candidate must have advanced academic preparation in mathematics education, mathematics content knowledge equivalent to an undergraduate major in mathematics, and a minimum of three years’ experience working in educational settings with students in grades K-12. The candidate must have a(n) Ph.D. or Ed.D. from an accredited institution completed by date of employment.

 

Applicants should have public school and college teaching experience. The successful candidate would also have educational or experiential preparation in one or more of the following areas: 1) instructional technology and technology supported pedagogy, 2) research methods, 3) teacher candidate and PK-6 learner assessment, and 4) working with culturally and linguistically diverse students. Experience in the accreditation process is also preferred.
