The Department of Teacher Development and Educational Studies at Oakland University seeks to hire a dynamic and promising scholar for a tenure-track position in elementary teacher education to begin August 15, 2017. The successful candidate will have expertise in teacher education and elementary mathematics education, and strong interest and capacity to teach elementary mathematics education courses.  We also seek a candidate with a record of accomplishment or demonstrated potential in scholarship and the capacity to contribute to the intellectual and scholarly community of Oakland University.

While we seek individuals with a primary focus in elementary mathematics teacher education, candidates who also have interests in areas such as school-university partnerships, teacher practices, clinical experiences, curriculum design and assessment practices, or teaching quality, are particularly encouraged to apply. We value candidates who can work collaboratively across departments and institutional boundaries and participate in sustained engagement with local schools and organizations in Southeast Michigan. A justice and equity orientation to teaching, research, and service is preferred.

Appointment begins August 15, 2017. The salary for this position is dependent upon qualifications and is accompanied by a substantial benefits package.

Responsibilities: teaching courses related to elementary mathematics teaching in the undergraduate and graduate teacher education program; developing new courses to advance program delivery; advising graduate students; maintaining active research and publication agendas; and collaborating to write grants and shape innovative programs that serve educational communities and the field of teacher education locally, nationally, and/or internationally.

Minimum QualificationsCandidates are expected to have: 1) an earned doctorate (or ABD with a completion date prior to August 15, 2017) in teacher education or a related field; with scholarly expertise in mathematics education; 2) at least 3 years of successful experience as a professionally certified teacher in grades K-8.
