Mathematics Learning Center Coordinator

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for a Mathematics Learning Center Coordinator in University College.

Responsibilities include managing and supervising the daily activities of the Mathematics Learning Center and Structured Learning Assistance to include planning, scheduling, budgeting, and assessment; providing direct tutoring services related to mathematics for student clients; hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of student tutors in the Mathematics Learning Center; providing effective support and ongoing training to tutors; planning and implementing workshops and exam preparation sessions for students as necessary; hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of Structured Learning Assistance student tutors in high risk math courses as well as other areas as needed; establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the various units including, but not limited to, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics; maintaining current familiarity with trends, concepts, and technologies which might be adopted to improve services in the Mathematics Learning Center; maintaining and updating center resources; developing promotional pieces and advertising the services of the center to students, faculty and staff; performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A master's degree in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics is required. Related teaching/advising experience is required. Experience teaching college level courses and managing a staff of 10 or more preferred. Two (2) years of related experience preferred. A successful candidate will also possess the ability to identify, develop, and implement programs which will serve the needs of student clientele; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and the campus community; the ability to supervise and evaluate personnel; the ability and knowledge to develop a budget and monitor expenditure; knowledge of and experience with contemporary management of tutorial services, including the training and supervision of tutors; thorough knowledge and demonstration of effective communication skills; adeptness at using current mathematical technology and computer systems.
