The Department of Mathematics at the University of Central Arkansas is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in mathematics education beginning August 2019. The position requires a doctorate in mathematics education or equivalent. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate mathematics education courses, conducting research in mathematics education, and service to K-12 schools and districts in the central Arkansas region.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to and proven ability in undergraduate teaching. Preference will be given to applicants who have K- 12 classroom teaching experience. Regular teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, some of which can be for supervising student interns. In addition, reassigned time for research is possible.
The department has 22 full-time faculty members including 6 in mathematics education and offers undergraduate degrees in applied mathematics, mathematics, data science, and mathematics education. UCA also offers master’s degrees in applied mathematics and mathematics education. UCA is one of the two state universities in Arkansas that offers a mathematics education program replicating the prestigious UTeach Program.
