The College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a full-time lecturer position beginning in the fall of 2020. The position will be 51% 7th - 12th Computer Science Education and 49% Master Teacher in Secondary Mathematics Education. The Computer Science Education component will be housed in the Division of Teacher Education and Human Development (TEHD) while the Mathematics Master Teacher component will reside in NevadaTeach, a mature UTeach replication program. The teaching load for this position will be adapted to include developing and teaching methodology courses designed to prepare teachers to deliver Secondary Computer Science classes including AP Computer Science, collaborating with Elementary and Secondary faculty to support their efforts to integrate computational thinking/quantitative literacy into their courses, and performing Master Teacher responsibilities in the NevadaTeach program that include teaching, recruitment, and supervision.
• Master's Degree in an appropriate field (Computer Science, Mathematics Education, Teacher Education, or a related area);
• Evidence of a strong background in Computer Science as determined by the search committee;
• Experience in Leadership and/or delivering Professional Development for K-12 Teachers.
Preference will be given to applicants with:
• A doctoral degree in an appropriate field;
• K-12 Teaching Experience;
• An undergraduate or Master's degree in Computer Science;
• Evidence of a strong background in Secondary Mathematics as determined by the search committee.
The Division of Teacher Education and Human Development (TEHD) is one of two units in the College of Education. It provides initial teacher preparation, delivers masters programs, and participates in the college's doctoral program curriculum. The NevadaTeach Program is interdisciplinary and offers dual degrees that combine a degree in Secondary Education from the College of Education with a content area degree from the College of Science, the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources, or the School of Community Health Sciences. https://www.unr.edu/education/academic-programs and https://www.unr.edu/nevadateach
