Our Mission

AMTE-TX's mission is to promote the improvement of mathematics teacher education in all its aspects in the State of Texas.

Our Goals

  • Provide for the professional development of mathematics teacher educators at all levels;
  • Facilitate communication and networking among mathematics teacher educators at the PK-12, technical and community college, Regional Service Centers, college and university levels, and other associated teacher education organizations; and
  • Encourage, promote and support research related to mathematics teacher education.

Activities 

  • Hosting an annual state conference each fall
  • Hosting a dedicated strand of sessions at the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT)
  • Publication of a peer-reviewed journal - Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education in Texas (JMTET), 3 issues per year

Summary of Recent Affiliate Accomplishments and Upcoming Activities: 

We publish an online journal, Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education in Texas (JMTET) three times a year and archive all previous issues on our website: https://amtetxdotorg.wpcomstaging.com/online-journal-2/ We provide a strand of sessions each summer at the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT). We convene for our AMTE-TX annual conference each fall in locations around Texas. Our Fall 2024 conference was held at West Texas A&M University and the 2025 conference will be held in Highland Park Texas. We also host bi-monthly virtual meet ups with engaging speakers and professional development resources.
