The Utah Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (UAMTE) was created to provide a forum for mathematics teacher educators to communicate with each other and communicate with other groups who are interested in the teaching of mathematics in the state of Utah. Mathematics teacher educators are university and college mathematics education faculty, mathematics faculty, education faculty, and mathematics district specialists from public school districts.

Summary of Recent Affiliate Accomplishments and Upcoming Activities: 

UAMTE made a proposal to the Utah State Board of Education and Board of Regents to increase the math requirements for both elementary teachers. As a result of this proposal, there has been a change in math requirements for secondary teacher to include three new courses: Algebra for teachers, Stats for teachers and Geometry for teachers. The conversations to change the math requirements for elementary teachers is ongoing.
