Biography
Emily Garrido is a second year doctoral student in the Early Childhood and Elementary Education Ph.D. program at Georgia State University. Her research interests include the impact of teacher-student relations of care on students’ mathematical identities and motivations. She is also interested in how to develop these relations of care with inservice teachers. She currently works as a graduate research assistant for her advisor on the development of inservice teachers as elementary mathematics specialists. She has taught at the elementary level for the past 9 years and remains a third grade teacher while completing her program. She hopes to use the knowledge gained throughout her program to create teacher development programs and eventually enter higher education.
