Mathematics education at the University of Illinois resides under the "Math, Science and Engineering Education" program area of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Our programs focus on the theory and practice of mathematics teaching and learning. Graduate students focus on a variety of topics, including social justice issues, problem-based instruction, teacher education, professional development, classroom discourse, curriculum reform, design-based research, and learning technologies.
