Position: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Mathematics Education, English/Language Arts/Reading Education, Science Education, Social Studies Education, Urban/Diversity Education, or other teacher education expertise.

Qualifications: Consistent with the stated mission of the University to be a world-class institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals the qualifications for the position include:
• Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field;
• Evidence of continuing scholarship or potential for establishing a scholarly record;
• Evidence of, or strong potential for, grant writing and grant-funded research; and
• Commitment to working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

Preference will be given to applicants who have:
• Experiences with PK-12 students in an educational setting;
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate, pedagogically sound teaching practices in PK-12 educational environments;
• Evidence of a commitment to equity and social justice; or
• Knowledge of pedagogy appropriate for culturally and/or linguistically diverse students.

Responsibilities The teacher education program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction includes undergraduate degrees in elementary education and middle or secondary education in the core subject areas; Masters degrees in education with several cognate options; an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction and a PhD in Curriculum and Teaching.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:
• Pursuing a relevant research and publication agenda;
• Teaching in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs;
• Participating in individual or collaborative activities to secure external funding;
• Recruiting and mentoring students, including EdD and PhD graduate assistants, and
• Providing service to the department, university and profession.

Salary and Beginning Date: The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and professional experience. The anticipated date of appointment is August 2016.
