East Carolina University is pleased to announce a tenure-track position in elementary mathematics education at the assistant or associate rank. We are seeking a mathematics educator with a focus on research, teaching and learning mathematics at the K-8 level. The full-time position is housed in the Department of Mathematics, Science, and Instructional Technology Education in the College of Education. Employment will begin with the 2016-2017 academic year.
Responsibilities include producing scholarly contributions in mathematics education; participating in writing proposals for external funding; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics pedagogy and mathematics content knowledge for prospective and practicing elementary and middle school teachers of mathematics; and providing service to the profession of mathematics education and the students and teachers of eastern North Carolina.
Candidates are expected to have an earned doctorate in mathematics education or a related field with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate work in mathematics education and be eligible for a North Carolina teaching license. Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions. Preference will be given to candidates with mathematics teaching experience, the publication of scholarly work, or funded grants at the elementary level.
