Open-Rank Position in Mathematics Education

 

Position. The University of Delaware invites applications for an Open-Rank tenure-track faculty position in Mathematics Education. We seek an exemplary scholar and, for senior applicants, a leader in mathematics education. This newly created position is funded to enhance the contributions of a thriving program which is regarded highly within and outside of the University. The mathematics education faculty members at UD pride themselves on sustaining a culture of exciting, collaborative, and supportive scholarship. The start date of this position, housed in the School of Education at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, is September 1, 2019.

 

Qualifications and Responsibilities. A doctorate in Mathematics Education or a related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a high-quality research program, a history of excellent teaching, a strong mathematics background, and three or more years of experience in an academic faculty position. Commensurate with experience, candidates are also expected to be pursuing a program of research that is making a significant contribution to the field and have a strong record of external funding. Responsibilities include sustaining a significant research program in mathematics education, supervising doctoral research, and teaching effectively in the mathematics education program. Teaching responsibilities include graduate courses in mathematics education and undergraduate mathematics content and methods courses for pre-service elementary and middle school teachers. We are interested in candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in promoting diversity and equal opportunities through research, teaching, or public engagement.

Applications should include a letter describing the candidate’s research interests and accomplishments (including external funding, if relevant), teaching experience, mathematics background, and commitment to promoting equity.
