The Department of Mathematics at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics Education starting in the fall of 2020. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant Professor level and will be expected to: 1) teach math education courses for preserviceteachers, 2) teach other mathematics courses as department needs require, 3) engage in active and sustained scholarship in mathematics education, 4) seek external funding in support of teaching or research, and 5) develop collaborations with colleagues in the College of Science.
Minimum requirements include:
- A doctorate in Mathematics Education or a closely related field. Candidates who expect to complete a doctorate by the beginning of the fall 2020 semester also will be considered.
- Evidence of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or K-12 level.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Evidence of teaching excellence in mathematics at the undergraduate level.
- A demonstrated interest in teaching mathematics courses for preserviceteachers.
- Potential for teaching courses outside of the curriculum for preserviceteachers. This includes courses at the quantitative literacy or calculus level.
- Potential for working with inserviceteachers and for building partnerships with local schools, school districts, and the Utah State Office of Education.
- At least 18 credit hours of master’s level or higher mathematics.
- A demonstrated commitment to conducting high-quality scholarship in mathematics education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with underrepresented groups.
Weber State University is a primarily undergraduate institution located at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains in Ogden, Utah.
