The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at James Madison University invites applications for a visiting lecturer position in mathematics education for one year starting August 2020. The successful applicant will join several mathematics educators in the department. The mathematics education group at JMU includes active scholars in mathematics education as well as mathematicians interested in PreK-12 mathematics education. The department teaches mathematics majors with secondary education minors as well as PreK-8 prospective teachers in an interdisciplinary major. For additional information about the department, see the department homepage at www.jmu.edu/mathstat/

 

Candidates should be invested in the teaching and improvement of mathematics content courses for prospective elementary and middle grades. Candidates should at a minimum have a master’s degree in mathematics or mathematics education (or the equivalent) by the time of the appointment. We are especially interested in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. Primary teaching responsibilities (up to 12 hours per semester) will include mathematics and statistics courses for pre-service elementary and middle grades teachers.
