The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware (UD) invites applications for a Continuing Track faculty member at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor, with primary job responsibilities situated within the Secondary Mathematics Education program. The Secondary Mathematics Education program prepares teacher candidates for Grades 7-12 certification through rigorous coursework and multiple field experiences, including an innovative early field experience in an undergraduate mathematics course. Program graduates are highly sought after in the region, and multiple students have won prestigious scholarships, awards, and fellowships.

The workload for this position is primarily devoted to teaching and service in the Secondary Math Education program. For candidates with a doctorate, the workload also includes opportunities for scholarship. The Continuing Track (CT) is UD’s permanent, non-tenure track. CT faculty enjoy contracts that increase in length over time, as well as many of the same benefits as tenure-track and tenured faculty, such as identical titles, a parallel promotion track, sabbaticals, and shared faculty governance.

The mathematics education community at UD comprises faculty in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Education and Human Development. UD recently hosted the Journal for Research in Mathematics Education from 2017-2020, and various faculty members were contributors to NCTM’s most recent Compendium for Research in Mathematics Education
