The Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences (TELS) in NC State’s College of Education invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Elementary Education with an emphasis on preparing/developing elementary teachers of mathematics.
The faculty member will work in the elementary education programs, both undergraduate and graduate (MAT and M.Ed.). Potential courses the faculty member will teach include: mathematics methods courses for preservice elementary teachers; mathematics specialization courses for practicing elementary teachers; and general courses in the elementary education programs on topics like instructional design and diversity. Potential opportunities for the faculty member also include: supervising elementary preservice teachers in their field experiences; mentoring doctoral students on teaching elementary mathematics methods and general education courses; and serving as a member on doctoral dissertation committees. The faculty member will establish and maintain partnerships with local school districts by engaging in outreach activities such as facilitating professional development for teachers. The faculty member will engage in scholarship related to teaching and learning and will have opportunities to conduct additional research projects.
