General Description
The Math Instructor will have a passion for mathematics education and the ability to effectively teach and inspire participants in a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Develop and enhance math curriculum materials, lesson plans, and activities that align with state educational standards and cater to participants' learning needs. Contextualizes content with artifacts and business examples gleaned from industry partners.
  • Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive math lessons, employing diverse teaching methodologies to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Concept Reinforcement: Help participants grasp fundamental math concepts, from basic arithmetic to advanced algebra, geometry, and more.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Create assessments, quizzes, and exams to evaluate participants' understanding of the material, provide timely feedback, and offer guidance for improvement.
  • Individualized Support: Identify participants' areas of strength and areas that require further attention, offering individualized instruction and additional assistance as needed.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and organized classroom environment, fostering respectful behavior, participation, and collaboration.
  • Technology Integration: Incorporate technology and educational tools to enhance math instruction and provide participants with practical skills relevant to the digital age.
  • Progress Tracking: Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and participant performance, and communicate progress to program leadership and support services.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with fellow instructors, program staff, and support services to address participants' academic and personal needs holistically.

Qualifications

  • New York State Teaching Certification in Mathematics (grades 7-12) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Experience in teaching math at various levels, with a strong foundation in algebra, geometry, and other core math subjects.
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to create an inclusive and motivating learning environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for supporting young adults in their math education and career development journey.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and willingness to integrate it into teaching practices.

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 Annually
