          Brief Job Overview/Summary

          Stockton University in New Jersey seeks applications for a full-time Tenure Track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Mathematics and First-Year Studies. This position begins on September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will join core faculty housed in the School of General Studies in teaching first-year mathematics courses as part of an innovative, University-wide First-Year Studies program.

          Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

          Under the direction of the Dean of General Studies, the responsibilities for Assistant Professor of Mathematics and First Year Studies include:

          • Teaching (3-3 load) courses and seminars in FRST mathematics such as quantitative reasoning, algebraic problem solving, and other courses in the interdisciplinary General Studies curriculum.           • Serving as a preceptor (advisor) to students, as assigned
          • Engaging in ongoing scholarship/creative work
          • Providing service to the University, community and profession
          • Performing other duties as assigned by the Dean of General Studies and/or the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
          • Support Stockton University’s commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission

          Required Qualifications:

          • Terminal degree (PhD, EdD) in relevant discipline (e.g., education, mathematics, statistics, psychology) required; ABD will be considered with completion expected within one year of start date; such candidates will be hired as instructors until terminal degree completion
          • Relevant experience teaching mathematics to first-year college students or the equivalent, including teaching elementary or intermediate algebra

          Preferred Qualifications:

          • Experience teaching college-level mathematics in quantitative reasoning with an emphasis on real-world applications
