NCTM Principles to Actions Toolkit available

AMTE colleagues,

I want to call your attention to the NCTM Principles to Actions Toolkit, a set of professional development resources that have  been developed recently by NCTM through a project co-directed by Peg Smith and Victoria Bill at the University of Pittsburgh.

These modules are designed to support teachers in exploring and making sense of the eight Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices.  There are three foundational modules and several grade band-specific modules for elementary, middle, and high school.  Modules feature a high cognitive demand mathematical task, a video or narrative case, and other artifacts such as lesson plans and students' work.  More modules are in development and will be posted in the coming months.

These modules are freely available, including the videos.  I have used them in preservice methods courses, inservice professional development, and with mixed groups at state meetings and found them to be quite valuable.
