The Senior Learning Designer, Mathematics supports mathematics strategy through prototyping, guideline development, and monitoring/supporting the quality of math offerings across the company. The Senior Learning Designer helps to research and develop Edmentum’s instructional approach to whole-child learning across curriculum, platform, and professional development under the leadership of the Director of Learning Design and the VP of Learning Design. The Senior Learning Designer, Mathematics is responsible for supporting the Director of Learning Design, Math, and guiding learning design through collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and freelancers.
Here's what you'll do:
- Support the company in achieving excellence in math learning design, making incremental changes in math content learning design and in conceptualizing future programs.
- Represent the needs of the teacher, the learner, and the administrator in product discussions involving mathematics.
- Apply effective classroom practice to high-quality learning design in math and in other areas as assigned. Apply variety of implementation models to Core and Tier 1 instruction.
- Partner with the Director of Learning Design on prototype creation to represent incremental improvement with respect to research and best practices, considering platform capabilities and future builds.
- Support the Content Development team in creating math content by writing prototypes, providing guidelines, and reviewing key sample content.
- Collaborate with the research department on understanding key math research and introducing new research that enhances Edmentum’s instructional thinking, understanding of how both scientifically based research and best practices authorship impact market direction and student outcomes.
- Participate in focus groups, customer interviews, field tests, and site visits that explore direction in the math market and that respond to product concepts and prototypes.
- Collaborate with Content Development, Research, Product Management, Platform Development, and UI/UX on supporting and implementing math learning design initiatives.
- Interface with math academic experts and investigate how to implement their feedback.
- Represent program in writing and in presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Meet all goals of quality, schedule, and budget.
Here's what you'll need:
- Master’s degree in instructional design, learning science, EdTech, or another education-related field preferred.
- 5+ years experience in mathematics classroom teaching, education, and instructional design.
- 3+ years experience creating content within the Education Technology or Education Publishing industries.
- Highly creative with strong design and technical skills.
- 3+ years experience in creating the learning design of commercial product in educational technology, including experience with Core Program and Tier I implementations.
- Demonstrated track record in productizing educational research in thoughtful and innovative ways.
- Ability to achieve results through influence across an organization and collaboration with other departments.
- Experience in a variety of innovative instructional modalities and design approaches including game-based learning, reality-based learning (AR, VR, MR), project-based learning, and others.
- Knowledge and experience with UDL and accessibility.
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, and business) to function effectively in a leadership role with internal and external clients and liaise with other national education experts.
- High levels of collaboration and cross-functional skills and experience.
This role is open to any location in the US. Per the CO State requirement (EPT Rules): minimum salary of $77,400. The actual rate of pay may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
