The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Montana State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education, to begin August 2024. We seek candidates whose research, teaching, and outreach are aligned with secondary mathematics education. We are excited to welcome a new colleague who shares our vision of empowering human beings to think quantitatively and generate new knowledge in the mathematical sciences.
Montana State University is a land-grant institution committed to the integration of scholarly activities – research, teaching, and outreach – supporting the people of Montana. The Department of Mathematical Sciences has a lively research culture, including a Ph.D. in Mathematics with an emphasis in Mathematics Education and an M.S. in Mathematics with an option in Mathematics Education, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics and in Statistics and an M.S. in Data Science. The faculty in the department comprises three disciplinary groups: Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Statistics. The Mathematics Education group includes specialists in secondary, elementary, and middle grades mathematics education. We maintain a strong commitment to conducting research in K-12 mathematics education, teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate mathematics and mathematics education courses, and strengthening K-12 mathematics education through professional development and outreach at the state and national levels. We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates commitment to the mathematical preparation of secondary teachers.
