Congratulations to Amanda Gantt Sawyer and Marcus Wolfe, AMTE winners of the 2025 NTLI Fellowship for the manuscript Exploring Preserve Teachers’ Adaptations of ChatGPT Created Mathematics Curricula: Discovering Overconfidence
Dr. Amanda Gantt Sawyer is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at James Madison University in the Middle, Secondary, and Mathematics Education Department. She earned a doctoral degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia, a master's degree in applied mathematics, and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina. Her research focuses on how mathematics teachers select, critique, and adapt educational resources from online platforms such as Teachers Pay Teachers and Artificial Intelligence chatbots.
Dr. Marcus Wolfe is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at James Madison University. He earned his doctorate in Math Edcaution from Morgan State University. His research is the intersection of Fractions, Embodied Cognition, and Game Design. He researches the use of video games to develop fractions knowledge and the role embodied cognition plays in the learning process. Marcus Wolfe adopts an embodied cognition view to mathematical learning, emphasizing gesture as a useful element to learn math content that also bridges towards games research. His exploration of embodied cognition describes the ways in which a controller works in relation to gesture as it both extends the thinking process for learning and mitigates it.
