Indiana (HAMTE) Affiliate News: This year members of the Hoosier Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators worked with legislators and the department of education to shape legislation and accreditation standards for educator preparation programs in the state. We successfully got removed from legislation language suggesting  explicit instruction was the only kind of research based instruction. We also worked to strike language from legislation that would have called for universal enrollment of all middle school students into advanced math course work whether they were ready or not.

Maryland (AMMTE) Affiliate News: This year, the Association of Maryland Math Teacher Educators (AMMTE)  hosted several events supporting math teacher educators across the state, including an Early Career Teacher  Conference in February, an in-person member meeting in August, and monthly online Community of Practice sessions that provide space for informal discussion of teaching practices and shared challenges. Building on this work, AMMTE is currently planning another Early Career Teacher Conference to be held in February 2026.

Texas (AMTE-Tx) Affiliate News:

The event concluded with service awards, travel awards, and voting to add a new board position, the VP-elect over conferences.
  • During 2025, we also held a series of five virtual meet-ups we call Tea Times. Presenters included MTLT editorial board members Sam Rhodes, Ashley Jairam, and Paul A. Naanou; the JMTET editor Rebecca Dibbs; Ayana Perry of the Knowles Initiative; Nicole Rigelman and Susan Auslander introducing AMTE's Elementary Math Specialists standards; and Glenn Waddell of AMTE's Get the Facts Out initiative. Recordings of these presentations are available on our website for later viewing.
