From the MTE Editors: June 2026 Highlights and Call for Future Editors

The MTE editors are excited to announce our next MTE issue in June. In the upcoming June 2026 issue there are two more articles from the Special Call: Supporting Teachers to Engage Traditionally Marginalized Learners, will be published. Empowering Mathematics Teachers to Support Emergent Bilinguals: A Collaborative Approach to Integrating Funds of Knowledge is an article by Jiyeong Yi, Jasmine Sourwine and Shristi Shrestha, where they share a lesson plan protocol used to engage teachers on supporting Emergent Bilinguals. Critically Conscious Mathematics Leaders: Fostering Specialists' Learning and Transformative Leadership by Katherine Edwards and Courtney Baker is an article on an intervention in an Elementary Mathematics Specialist (EMS) program used to engage EMS candidates in reflecting on their leadership. The final article, Broadening Participation in Mathematics with EQUIP: A Teacher Professional Development Model for Centering Equity by Eva Thanheiser, Kathryn Roman and Ruth Heaton describe an intervention where teachers watched their lessons using EQUIP as a means for reflecting on participation in their classrooms. The editorial shares the work of the Co-Editors and previews what it means to be an editor for MTE.

The term for the current editorial team ends in May of 2028. To that end, we are announcing the next search for next editorial team that would begin in May 2027. Please reach out to the current editorial team of Allyson Hallman Thrasher, Rachael Eriksen Brown and Amber Candela for any questions and look for the upcoming announcement and application process from AMTE and NCTM.

The quality of the journal continues to depend on the authors and reviewers. We welcome AMTE members who wish to review volunteer to review through the online review and submission system
