Biography
Dr. Allyson Hallman-Thrasher is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education jointly appointed in the departments of Teacher Education and Mathematics at Ohio University. A former high school and middle school teacher, Dr. Hallman-Thrasher teaches methods and content courses for prospective elementary, middle, and secondary teachers. Her research analyzes ways to support prospective teachers in learning to engage their K-12 students in mathematically productive classroom discussions and cognitively demanding tasks. Hallman-Thrasher is currently PI on the six-year NSF RALLY for STEM Noyce Fellowship grant which prepares two cohorts of STEM teachers and provides four years of follow-up professional development. She also co-leads an investigation of inquiry-based teaching practices in college-level calculus courses.
