East Carolina University
Dr. Carrie Lee is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education in the Mathematics, Science, and Instructional Technology Education (MSITE) Department at East Carolina University. A former elementary school teacher, Dr. Lee teaches methods courses for prospective elementary teachers and graduate courses for in-service elementary teachers. Her research examines rehearsal structures as ways to support effective facilitation in classroom discussions. Her work in rehearsals incorporates virtual simulations in which individuals facilitate discussion with a small group of avatars. As Co-PI of an NSF funded grant, Project INTERSECT, Dr. Lee analyzes similarities and differences in prospective elementary teachers’ eliciting prompts in peer-to-peer rehearsals and virtual simulation rehearsals.
