Krista Hocker
Biography
Krista Hocker is the K-12 Math Specialist for Lane Education Service District in Eugene, Oregon. In this role she supports the sixteen school districts in Lane County with math curriculum and instruction, in addition to supporting statewide math initiatives put forth by the Oregon Department of Education's Oregon Math Project. For the past two years, Krista has taught a Secondary Math Methods course for the College of Education at the University of Oregon. Krista is passionate about cultivating student belonging and agency in inclusive, heterogeneous math classrooms. She sees mathematical modeling as a key lever for increasing student reasoning and engagement with mathematics in authentic contexts. Krista loves partnering with other educators to support students with this relevant, and often messy work.
