Lauren Rigby
Biography
Lauren Rigby is a STEM Education doctoral student at University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on mathematics teacher education, disability studies, and conceptually-rich, inclusive mathematics learning spaces. Prior to UT Austin, she worked for eight years as a secondary mathematics teacher in general and special education classrooms while earning her master’s degree in Mathematics Education from Brigham Young University. Her master’s thesis serves as an existence proof that students with disabilities can increase their mathematical conceptual understanding and capacity for mathematical practices in a reformed classroom environment. Her current research examines the specific practices and conditions that make co-teaching effective in math classrooms.
