Outline Expectations for Personal Feedback at 2018 AMTE Publications Session

To optimize feedback, 2018 Annual AMTE Conference attendees who sign-up for a 15-minute time slot at the 2018 AMTE Publications Session are asked to write and submit a 1-2 page outline of a proposed submission to the respective publication by Monday, December 4 at 11:59 PM PST.
 
The intent of the Publications Session is to provide feedback to you as a prospective author regarding the intent, goals, and expectations of one of three AMTE publications. Guidelines for the respective publications follow.

Mathematics Teacher Educator (MTE)

Mathematics Teacher Educator (MTE) is an AMTE/NCTM online journal. The mission of MTE is to contribute to building a professional knowledge base for mathematics teacher educators that stems from, develops, and strengthens practitioner knowledge.

The journal provides a forum for sharing practitioner knowledge related to the preparation and support of teachers of mathematics as well as for verifying and improving that knowledge over time.  The journal is thus a tool that uses the personal knowledge that mathematics educators gain from their practice to build a trustworthy knowledge base that can be shared with the profession.

All manuscripts should be crafted in a manner that makes the scholarly nature of the work apparent.

Current Issues in Technology Education (CITE)

Contemporary Issues in Technology and Mathematics Teacher Education (CITE-Math) is an AMTE/AACE online journal. The mission of CITE-Math is to provide a forum for reporting on research and engaging in a dialog about best practices related to any area of technology use for mathematics teacher education. Articles dealing at both pre-service and in-service education level are welcomed. A wide range of formats and approaches to scholarship are accepted, including qualitative research, quantitative studies, conceptual and theoretical pieces, case studies, and professional practice papers.

All manuscripts should be developed in such a way as to make clear how the research or other scholarly exposition contributes to the knowledge base for the effective use of technology in mathematics teacher education. 

Connections

The purpose of the Connections Newsletter is to support AMTE’s mission of promoting the improvement of K-12 mathematics teacher education by providing members with up-to-date information and resources related to AMTE, current research, and other areas/organizations (e.g., NCTM) that will aid members with their work in pre-service and in-service teacher education. It also provides a venue for members to share their ideas, work, and research. To help support this goal, we solicit blind, peer-reviewed submissions (up to 1,400 words). It is one of AMTE’s major publications (published 4x/year). It currently utilizes an on-line format; current/past issues are archived on the AMTE website.

The Editorial Panel will consider a wide variety of types of submissions including essays addressing questions related to theory and practice, reviews of resources for mathematics teacher educators, research summaries, and news articles related to mathematics teacher education. Each submission is blind reviewed by the editorial board for relevance to the AMTE membership and for quality of work.
