The Ohio University Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education, Department of Teacher Education is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction (Tenure Track) position with an anticipated starting date of August 15, 2024. Candidates should have experience and expertise in teacher education and/or one or more of the department’s programs and associated majors: Adolescent to Young-Adult (secondary) Education, Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Middle Childhood Education, Reading/Literacy Education, or Special Education. We seek a scholar who uses critical theories, such as critical race theory and/or queer theory, to frame an established or potential record of research related to one or more of the following lines of inquiry:

  • Supporting equitable learning environments and outcomes for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and LGBTQ+ students in K-12 schools;
  • Supporting equitable learning environments and outcomes for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ preservice teachers in the Department of Teacher Education;
  • Promoting teachers and future teachers’ cultural competence, including the use of culturally responsive, culturally sustaining, and justice-oriented pedagogies.
