The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education starting August 10, 2026.

 Required Qualifications: 

● A doctoral degree in mathematics education, or equivalent 

● At least 18 hours of graduate mathematics or statistics content coursework, or equivalent 

● Demonstrated expertise in mathematics education 

● A commitment to establishing a productive, externally funded research program 

● A commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels to a student body with varied backgrounds. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

● K-16 teaching experience or equivalent teaching experience 

● Evidence of potential to obtain external funding 

Responsibilities: 

● Establish and maintain an active research program in mathematics education 

● Seek external funding 

● Teach undergraduate courses for K-12 pre-service teachers, especially methods courses for middle and secondary pre-service teachers 

● Support the Math Pathways initiative 

● Teach graduate courses for the master’s and doctoral students 

● Provide service to the department, the university, and the profession
