Biography
Emily Elrod is a doctoral candidate at North Carolina State University in Learning and Teaching in STEM, with a concentration in Mathematics and Statistics Education. Emily has been in the field of education for over 14 years. Prior to working on her doctoral degree, she taught secondary and collegiate mathematics and served as a K-12 mathematics curriculum specialist in a rural school district in North Carolina. During her time at NC State she has worked as a graduate teaching assistant for secondary mathematics methods and educational assessment courses. Emily holds a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education and a BS in Secondary Mathematics Education, both from Appalachian State University. Her research interests include K-12 prospective teacher preparation to teach conceptually oriented mathematics, as well as practicing teacher professional development.
