AMTE Virtual Institute

Join us for the 2025 AMTE Virtual Institute, a professional learning opportunity designed to support mathematics teacher educators at all stages of their careers. This year’s theme, Across the Arc: Sustaining Our Learning, Sharing Our Practice, invites us to reflect on how we grow, contribute, and thrive in a changing educational landscape. Together, we’ll engage in meaningful learning, connection, and inspiration.

This year’s institute will feature:

• A keynote conversation on learning as a mathematics teacher educator.
• Presentations from two recent dissertations highlighting new research in the field.
• Virtual lightning talks on teacher practice, professional development, and research in mathematics teacher education.
• A closing session focused on Maintaining Joy in MTE, with speakers exploring how we share knowledge, collaborate, and sustain ourselves in the midst of shifting expectations.

Propose a Virtual Lightning Talk

The AMTE Professional Development Committee invites proposals for virtual lightning talks during the Virtual Institute focused on teacher practice, professional development, and research related to mathematics teacher education. The lightning talks are scheduled from 1:30-2:20 EST. This 50-minute session will feature multiple concurrent breakout rooms, each organized around a common theme. In each room, 2-3 presenters will deliver 7-minute lightning talks, followed by a 20-minute roundtable discussion facilitated by a moderator.

We welcome a range of contributions, including in-progress research, conceptual work, and scholarship grounded in practice. Proposals should include a brief description of the research foundation or scholarly context that informs their work. Submissions are due by September 26, 2025 by 11:59 PM PT.
