The Department of Mathematical Sciences (https://www.mathsci.udel.edu/) in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a continuing-track assistant professor to teach in our innovative Mathematical Sciences Learning Laboratory (MSLL). MSLL employs active learning and other evidence-based teaching strategies, principles of continuous improvement, and a collaborative instructional team to study and improve teaching and learning in introductory college mathematics courses (e.g., College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus).
The anticipated workload is devoted primarily to teaching (9-12 credits per semester), with the remainder devoted to service and scholarship. The Continuing Track (CT) is UD’s permanent, non-tenure track career path. CT faculty enjoy contracts that increase in length over time, as well as many of the same benefits as tenure-track and tenured faculty, such as identical titles, a parallel promotion track, sabbaticals, and shared faculty governance.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences strives to create a diverse and inclusive environment in the workplace. The department has about 50 faculty members in mathematics, applied mathematics, and mathematics education, and offers BA, BS, MS, and PhD degrees in a variety of areas.
