Biography
Dr. Jeffrey Shih is a Professor of Mathematics Education and currently serves as the Associate Dean of Student and Community Engagement in the College of Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Dr. Shih was raised in Los Angeles and has received degrees from UC Berkeley and UCLA. His major advisors were Dr. Megan Franke and Dr. Bengt Muthén. His current research centers around doctoral preparation in mathematics education.
Dr. Shih has been an active member of AMTE since 2009. He served on the AMTE Technology Committee from 2009-2011, chairing it in 2012. From there he served on something called the Communications Task Force from 2012-2014 before moving on to the best thing he’s ever done: STaR from 2014-2018. He then served on the NCTM Board of Directors from 2018-2021 and started his current role in administration in 2020.
