Notes from the Membership Committee

Community Circle Information

The Membership Committee continues to promote member benefits and support the 13 active Community Circles, which allow members to discuss and explore common interests throughout the year. We encourage everyone to read through the current Community Circles and join a circle that interests you! If you have an idea for a new Community Circle, contact Bona Kang (avpmembership@AMTE.net) with any questions.

AMTE Conference Registration and Membership Scholarship

Apply to the Membership Scholarship! Are you a new member hoping to attend the 2027 conference in Baltimore, Maryland? Great news: The Membership Division will offer a Conference Registration and Membership Scholarship to support a new member to pay for a 1-year AMTE membership and early conference registration fees. If you apply, be sure that you are able to attend the conference and that you wait to register until after this award is announced. The application for this scholarship will become available on the AMTE website later this spring, and applications will be due in mid-June 2026.

Scholarship Description: Applicants’ work must focus on the preparation or development of mathematics teachers, and applicants must show that they have limited travel funds offered by their institution or employer. Applicants must be attending the AMTE annual conference for the first or second time but need not be current AMTE members to apply. Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible for this award. We encourage Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) scholars and/or those from underrepresented institutions in AMTE (e.g., Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), K-12 school district leaders, etc.) to apply.  More information can be found here: https://amte.net/content/amte-conference-registration-and-membership-scholarship
