As part of a participatory action research project with middle and high school mathematics teachers and community youth leaders, we created a set of four web-based modules around core themes of noticing for equity. We are interested in learning if and how these materials may be of use to teacher educators and leaders of professional development. We are looking for interested teacher educators/ teacher leaders to try out these modules and participate in a series of interviews. We aim to learn from teacher educators and professional development leaders whether and how these representations of teaching might support teacher educators helping teachers learn to notice for equity.
You are invited to complete the four modules. It will take roughly 60-90 minutes to complete each module. You are also invited to participate in a 45-minute baseline interview, by Zoom, to share your goals for teacher learning/ teacher education.
You will also be invited to test these resources in your teacher education or professional development context (Phase 2). If you choose to continue with this phase, we may also invite you to participate in a set of two or three 1-hour interviews regarding your experience implementing the modules.
You will be compensated for your time participating in the two phases of the study, and can receive up to $750 for your participation.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Elizabeth van Es (evanes@ucsb.edu) and Ethan Rubin (ebrubin@ucsb.edu). You can also email if you have any questions.
