Free Summer PD for Elementary In-Service Teachers Using GenAI Teaching Simulations

We are currently recruiting elementary in-service teachers for an eight-week, online professional learning community (PLC) to learn about how to engage in one core teaching practice: eliciting student thinking. The online PLC will begin the first week in July and go through the end of August (~4 hours total participation/week -- 2 hours in an online PLC meeting and 2 hours asynchronous work). In the PLC, each week teachers will work with a cohort of other elementary in-service teachers to learn about strategies for eliciting student thinking in the context of elementary math or science. A key part of the learning activities will involve them in preparing for, engaging in, and reflecting on two different online teaching simulations powered by generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) to support their professional learning.

Please feel free to share the study invitation flyer below with any elementary in-service teachers in the U.S. who may be interested in participating in this PLC. They would complete a short intake form to apply to participate (link in the attached flyer). Those who complete the intake form by 6/14 will receive full consideration.

Elementary in-service teachers will receive several benefits from participating, including:

  • Free access to the GenAI teaching simulations and professional learning opportunities facilitated by experienced professional learning facilitators at no cost
  • $150 for completing the pre- and post surveys on the GenAI simulation experience and surveys about their instructional beliefs, self-efficacy, and acceptance of AI in education
  • Written feedback about their strengths and areas for growth in eliciting student thinking, based on their performance in one of the GenAI simulations
  • A badge or certificate of participation from the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) after completing all study activities

Thanks in advance for spreading the word about this opportunity.
