Learning to Code and Teach with Robotics in a Mathematics Methods Course
This 2025 NTLI award submission video reported on research conducted in a middle grades and secondary cross-listed mathematics methods course as preservice teachers experienced learning about, and with, the TI-Nspire calculator, TI-Innovator Rover™ (secondary PSTs), and Dash robot with TI Bluetooth Adapter (middle grades PSTs). Findings were disseminated as well as PSTs’ self-reported successes and challenges as they learned to code and create lessons with the robotics. This presentation also shared strategies for MTEs contemplating the integration of similar experiences in their courses and how to help make robotics accessible for PSTs after graduation in their classrooms.
