AMTEC (Connecticut)

Greetings AMTE community! The Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators in Connecticut (AMTEC) is preparing for two conferences this fall, one for our membership, which will include a collaborative exchange of materials, and another to support preservice teachers in our state. We are also happy to report that our ongoing collaboration across state math education leadership organizations (i.e., AMTEC, ATOMIC – our NCTM Affiliate; CCLM – our Connecticut Council of Learners of Math, also an affiliate) has produced a final version of “Equity in Mathematics Education: A Joint Position Statement for Connecticut.” All three organizations have coordinated strategies to publicize the document and work with stakeholders for how to use it to support change in our state. Questions and inquiries can be sent to amteconnecticut@gmail.com.

NYSAMTE (New York)

The New York State Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (NYSAMTE) published the first issue of its newsletter, NYSAMTE News. The newsletter is a way for members to stay connected between events and meetings. This year, each issue will feature different ways we serve as mathematics teacher educators. NYSAMTE will hold its first annual business meeting virtually on Thursday, October 13. Our first Educators Exchange will take place immediately following the business meeting. Educators Exchange is the name of NYSAMTE’s periodic meet-ups where members can share thoughts and ideas on issues in mathematics teacher education. In October, we will discuss the implications of the New York State Education Department’s recent elimination of the general core and edTPA requirements for certification. To learn more about NYSAMTE, please visit our website at NYSAMTE.org or email us at info@nysamte.org.

Managing your Affiliate Page in the AMTE Affiliates Directory

Is your affiliate’s page in the AMTE Affiliates Directory up to date? One representative from each affiliate can be granted access to edit that affiliate’s information in the online directory. Each affiliate page includes an overview section that can link to the affiliate website, a list of affiliate leaders, and a section for additional information. To find out more about managing your affiliate’s webpage, go to https://amte.net/affiliates/manage. The link to the AMTE Web Team provides an easy way to register or change your affiliate representative.
