Responsibilities:

Be a part of a team supporting teachers to deliver high quality math instruction that works to meet the learning needs of all students, especially those from diverse populations. Provide technical assistance and support to local districts focused on enacting the Teaching and Learning Principles from NCTM’s Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All through professional development, instructional coaching, and consulting. Provide professional development and consulting for teachers and administrators on high-impact instructional practices and curricula related to Michigan’s Mathematics Standards. Coach teachers in the implementation of the Michigan Mathematics Standards through integrating research-based, best practices into instructional plans, curriculum, and assessments. Within each instructional coaching cycle, the teacher and coach collaboratively select, deliver, and reflect on the lesson.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in education related field. Five years effective teaching experience. Michigan Teaching Certificate in Mathematics. Embraces and supports KRESA philosophies related to diversity, inclusiveness and anti-racism. Ability to interact effectively with individuals from a wide range of cultures. Ability to discuss cultural differences with colleagues and clients. Ability to assess one’s own strengths and limitations or challenges and integrate this understanding into interpersonal interactions.

Preferred Skills:

Instructional coaching and professional development facilitation experience preferred. Display effective communication skills. Maintain confidentiality. Willing to adapt supports for local districts based on their changing needs. Exhibit cultural awareness and provide culturally relevant supports for teachers and students within diverse environments to cultivate mathematically powerful classrooms. Ability to select and develop appropriate methods, skills and techniques attuned to people's cultural, multicultural or marginal experiences in their environments. Ability to effectively employ multicultural approaches in resolving problems.
