The Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science (MSCS) at Marquette University seeks a post-doctoral researcher to participate in the L-MAP project (Learning about Mathematical Argumentation and Proving in Teacher Education, DRK-12# 1350802). The position involves supporting research for a National Science Foundation project designed to examine the development of K-8 pre-service teachers’ knowledge of mathematical argumentation and proving in teacher preparation programs. The position is funded with a competitive salary, generous health benefits, and support for professional travel.

The position is full-time (100% appointment) for 12 months. In addition, the post-doctoral researcher will have access to wide range of University resources that support academic research, professional development, and well-being, and will have opportunities to interact with a vibrant campus-wide mathematics and computer science teacher education community.  

Duties and Responsibilities: The post-doctoral researcher will work on the research project (including data analysis, writing, and dissemination through conference presentations and publications).  

Required Knowledge and Skills: Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or related discipline (e.g., teacher education, mathematics, or related field), experience in quantitative and qualitative research, and strong writing skills.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills: Experience teaching secondary mathematics and/or secondary mathematics methods courses is preferred, as well as experience on longitudinal research projects is a plus.
