The Spring 2021 issue includes an uplifting message from AMTE’s new President about the importance of deep listening and learning in community. It features an article from Connections’ special call that focuses on perspectives of those navigating a virtual field placement. Also shared are upcoming opportunities for leadership in AMTE, along with an interesting and insightful collection of articles and videos from current and past leaders describing their experiences and providing tips. You will find highlights from the recent AMTE Annual Conference as well as the Call for Proposals for the 2022 Annual Conference. This issue also provides updates from the CITE-Math and Mathematics Teacher Educator journals and from several Affiliates, along with information on how to join the Mathematics Teacher Education Partnership program.

Call for Proposals for AMTE 2022 Annual Conference
The 26th Annual Conference of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators will be held February 10 – 12, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference sessions will begin Thursday morning. The call for proposals is now available. A link to the online submission site will be available after April 1, 2021. The deadline for online proposal submissions is May 15, 2021 11:59 PM PDT.
The American Mathematical Society (AMS) invites all members of the mathematics community to submit proposals for the 2022 Joint Mathematics Meetings. The portal is now open, with proposals due by April 7, 2021. Also, nominations are open for AMS’s 12 prizes and awards, including several recognizing excellence in education. More information can be found here, with nominations due by June 30, 2021.

Congratulations to Nina Bailey, Demet Yalman Ozen, Allison McCulloch, Lara Kristen Dick, Jennifer Nickell Lovett, and Charity Cayton, AMTE winners of the 2021 NTLI Fellowship for their manuscript “Using a Framework to Teach Preservice Mathematics Teachers how to Professionally Notice within Technology Mediated Environments”.
The Teaching Math Teaching podcast was created in part to extend the conversations that occur at AMTE conferences. Who would you like to hear from? What topics would you like to hear discussed, and by whom? The Teaching Math Teaching podcast team is actively seeking nominations of people and topics for future episodes! Use the anonymous online suggestion box to submit your ideas.
Connections is a quarterly online publication of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators. The newsletter offers a peer-reviewed opportunity for members to disseminate information to the mathematics teacher education community.
